MEADOWBROOK FAMILY FOCUS
September 2008 Volume11 Issue 6
What's Happening?
There's so much happening around Meadowbrook these days that you really have to pay attention to keep up with it all.
As you see on page 1 we're about to kick-off our new ministry year. This is always an exciting time and we have a great day planned for Sept. 21. We are concluding a tremendous Summer and looking to carry that momentum into the Fall.
Also, James and Marilyn will be moving to the Eastside, probably the weekend of Sept. 27. We'll need a few strong guys to help unload their furniture. The deacons at James' church are recommending that their church give James a severance gift of his salary through December 31. That would be a wonderful gift and significantly help them with the financial challenges of coming to serve in our church. Please pray for them.
Our entire Leadership Community will be retreating together September 12-13 for the purpose of seeking God regarding His desires for how we carry out His mission over the next 12 months. We've got a great group of servants who will be praying for you and creatively serving God, others and our church family.
Finally, let me mention the obvious that if you miss a couple of Sundays you miss seeing and meeting new guests. We've been blessed this summer with meeting several new friends.
Please take a step of initiative over the next couple of weeks and introduce yourself. Recall when you were new to Meadowbrook and what it meant for someone to reach out to you.
Time to Kick-Off a New Ministry Year
Football is not the only thing kicking-off these days. The new ministry year at Meadowbrook begins September 21. On that day we'll go to our full Sunday schedule:
9:45 MICS, YICS, & CSS
11:00 PromiseLand & Worship
Church-wide Luncheon
Following the worship hour we'll have a church-wide luncheon where we'll get to fellowship with each other.
Ministry Fair
Enjoy checking out the Ministry Fair where you'll get to see the latest of what's going on with the various Meadowbrook ministries.
Been wondering about how to get involved? The Ministry Fair will be the perfect opportunity for you to find that way that you can make a difference.
Get Connected
The Fall is a great time to get connected. If you have never been part of a SHARE Group or if you've not been able to attend for a while there are excellent opportunities available to you.
Youth Ministry
Our youth will be meeting every Monday at the Gathering Place for Bible Study, discipleship, and fellowship, 7:-00-8:30 p.m. All youth in Grades 6-12 are welcome. Every Sunday YICS (youth institute of Christian studies) will meet at 9:45 a.m. for important and dynamic discussions about faith and life.
Children's Ministry
CSS and PromiseLand are back with proven leaders and all new studies, crafts and fun experiences that introduce children to Jesus Christ. Parents will find our children's ministry as a great resource for training their children in faith.
James & Marilyn Appleby are On Their Way!
James and Marilyn are on their way to Meadowbrook! Marilyn was hired by Overlake Sleep Clinic in Bellevue and will begin the first of October. The Applebys plan to move to the Eastside the last week of September.
James has resigned his pastorate in Wisconsin and has begun closing his ministry there.
Please pray for-
1. Severance request of James' church
2. James' fund-raising efforts
3. Finding an apartment
4. Moving expenses
5. Care for James' mother who has just had to move in with him
Stay tuned for ways that you can help their arrival.
LIFE BUILDING Update
If you've recently driven by the Gathering Place, day or night, it is likely that you've seen cars in the parking lot and lights on in the house.
God led us to develop a ministry tool that would be available every day of the week for worship, fellowship, service and acts of compassion. The facility is being used by the Meadowbrook family, the greater Redmond community and by other ministries.
Most of the Meadowbrook family serves on a rotation to periodically clean the facility and hold down janitorial costs. Thanks.
We're still waiting on necessary funds in order to develop Phase 2.
Thank you for your faithfulness in continuing to give through the LIFE BUILDING fund to underwrite the development and use of Phase 1.

Teen MOPS Beginning Sept. 25

MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers, a program designed for mothers with children under school age-infancy through kindergarten. Mothers, not all the same age, but all in the same phase of life gather in a nonjudgmental environment to experience support, friendship and encouragement in the role of being a mother.
Meadowbrook's MOPS is especially designed for Teen Moms, women 22 years old and younger.
Teen MOPS will meet every other Thursday , 10:00 a.m.-Noon at the Gathering Place. Food, drinks and loving childcare provided for free!
Speakers will address topics like: first aid; healthy discipline for children; budgeting; and quick and easy meals.
Meadowbrookers interested in helping MOPS be a success should contact Terrie Forgey, our MOPS Director.
